Vietnam
/ Hué / Emperor Tombs
Around Hué,
mostly to the South of the city, are the tombs of the Nguyen emperors,
of numerous imperial family members and of palace officials. Some
of the tombs were heavily damaged or destroyed during the Vietnam
War. The tomb of Emperor Minh Mang, who ruled until 1840, is considered
the most beautiful mausoleum. It was built from 1841 to 1843 and
lies about 12 kilometres south of the city.
