Anuradhapura / Isurumuniya Temple
Another structure from the 3d century B.C it is most famous for the rock carving of a man and a woman in romantic dalliance, believed by some to be king Duttha Gamini’s son Salya and the low caste damsel whom he fell in love with. There are other notable carvings on the way to the cave containing a statue of the reclining Buddha.
