The Esala Perahera is Sri Lanka’s most famous festival and a great tourist attraction. Held every year in July-August for 10 consecutive nights. The festival climaxes with a replica of the tooth relic being paraded through the streets with an accompanying pageantry of hundreds of decorated elephants and thousands of dancers.
And it can be scientifically analyzed, though I am not aware of any university faculty working specifically on the topic.
