Antiques from
all over Asia can be found in Singapore ,although Chinese antiques
predominate ?chiefly porcelain and ceramics, jade, bronze items
and scrolls. The range of porcelain and ceramics is particularly
good. Even pieces from the Tang and Qing dynasties can be found.
Thai ceramics dating back to the 13th and 15th century are another
favourite target for collectors. Brass lamps, bronze statuettes
and inlaid jewellery boxes are some of the Indian antiques available
and Indonesian, Vietnamese and Burmese pieces of genuine antiquity
are also to be found. Among the best-known places for antique
collectors are shopping centres in Tanglin Road, Orchard Road,
Cuppage Road and shops in several hotel arcades.
