City Hall

- Lorenzo St; built between 1905 and 1907 by the U.S. colonial
administration; beautiful wooden structure
Plaza Pershing
(38) - 2 minutes walk from the City Hall; a quaint remnant of
a typical Spanish square, named in honor of US governor to the Philippines
General John Pershing.
Pasonanca
Park - located out of downtown Zamboanga, 15 minutes by jeepney;
a beautiful park with the defunct Zamboanga Plaza Hotel &
Convention Center, with casino and three swimming pools. All facilities
were sequestered with the change of the government in 1986, because
they were Marcos property.
Rio Hondo
- Mosque (70) - eastern Zamboanga; there is a famous mosque
in Rio Hondo, a Moslem water village with old houses, built on
stilts over the sea
Fort Pilar
and Aquatic Life Museum (69) - An old Spanish fort, built in
1635 by a Jesuit priest to ward off attacks from the Moros and foreign
invaders. The fort is located at the seaside to the south of the
city. Within the fort is an interesting museum on the aquatic life
of the seas around the Philippines. Nice display of shell and coral
specimens.
