South Luzon / Lagonoy and Albay Gulf

Along the coastal route from Legazpi to Tabaco are several beach resorts, charac-terized by dark lava sand and rough blue waters. This area is sometimes called the 'Mayon Riviera'.

The road to Tabaco from Legazpi is as-phalt and in good condition except for a short section before Santo Domingo which was pushed away by a previous volcanic eruption and has not yet been rebuilt. In spite of this fact much traffic plies this route, but on rainy days it can be difficult to pass through.

To reach the resorts located along this route, one takes a jeepney at the Legazpi public market going toward Tabaco, and asks the driver to stop on the highway near the desired resorts. From the highway one takes a tricycle to the resorts.
