The base
of Mount Isarog (6,481ft) is located about 15km (9mi) from Naga.
One can get there by taking a jeepney in Naga City at Abella St,
heading for Carolina barrio; it's a 30 to 45 minute ride.
From the
jeepney terminal in Carolina barrio, the visitor has to walk about
5km (3mi) up a footpath to reach Malabsay Falls. This is a 12m
(39ft) water fall with ponds of cold mountain water. More serious
hikers and climbers may be interested in continuing up Mt Isarog
through the National Park (locally called 'Forestry'). It may
take several days to reach the top.
A couple
of resorts with facilities for swimming and picnics are in Carolina.
They have many visitors on summer weekends.
