Philippines / Northeast Luzon / Cauayan and vicinity

Cauayan is a rustic community located between Cagayan Valley to the north and the Cordillera ranges to the south with ricefields as far as the eye can see. It is about an eight hour drive from Manila via the Maharlika Highway. Recently (Jan, 1991) the main drag, Rizal Avenue Promenade was lighted to provide some infrastructure for tourism. The Magat Irrigation Dam between San Mateo, Cabauatan, Cauayan, and Alicia is worth seeing.
