Attractions Around Mandalay / Sagaing

Photo: Some 600 Buddhist pagodas, temples and monasteries grace the hills of Sagaing.

Sagaing is only a small town, but an important religious center on the banks of the Ayeyarwaddy opposite Ava. A bridge of 732 meters connects Sagaing with Ava. It is the only bridge crossing the Ayeyarwaddy in all of Myanmar. In the Sagaing area there are some 600 Buddhist pagodas, temples and monasteries.
