ZHI-4
('zhi' in the fourth tone)
There are some 112 standard Chinese
characters that are spoken 'zhi', making this one olf the most common Chinese
sounds. Furthermore, there are many closely related sounds, 'zi', 'chi', and
'shi', so that the clear identification of words spoken 'zhi' isn't always
easy. While there are no predominant sound-defining elements in words spoken
'zhi', the following sound-determining characters are picked up in more
complicated ones: 之 , 只 , 止 , 支 , 至 .
至 = to, until
