TONG-4
('tong' in the fourth tone)
There are two sound-determining
components often seen in characters that are spoken as 'tong'. One is an
important independent character in itself: 同 = tong(2) = same, similar. The
other one exists, but is irrelevant as an independent character: 甬 = yong(3) = a
river that flows through the Chinese city Ningbo
痛 = pain, ache
