GEI-3
('gei' in the third tone)
The sound 'gei' is not difficult to pronounce for
Chinese native speakers. Therefore, it is surprising that there is indeed only
one standard Chinese character spoken as 'gei', 给.
给 = to give
嫁给 = jia(4)gei(3) = to
marry (what a woman is doing; when a man marries, this word cannot be used)
结婚 = jie(2)hun(1) = to
marry (this term can beused for men)
Sentence on a Chinese lifestyle advice
for women site:
你有勇气嫁给穷男人吗? = Ni(3) you(3)
yong(3)qi(4) jia(4)gei(3) qiong(2) nan(2)ren(2) ma(-)? = Do you have the
courage to marry a poor man?
