Some 14 standard Chinese characters have a 'dui'
pronunciation. There is no predominant sound-indicating component. 对 is the most common 'dui'
character.
对 = correct, yes, opposite (and
many more meanings)
As a single character unit, 对 usually means 'correct',
'yes'. Chinese speakers use it heavily to express acknowledgement of what a
person says who is talking to them.
