Some 64 standard Chinese characters have
a 'di' pronunciation. Common sound-defining components of more complicated
characters are: 氐 (11 occurences), 帝 (11), 弟 (7)
低 = low, vertically short (opposite of 'tall')
Composition of 婚:
The left part of the character is the 亻 radical. The
distinctive feature of this character is on the right side, 氏. For the
character 低, a dot is added. By itself, 氏 = shi(4) is
neither common nor important, but it is the distinctive element in several
other important characters:
纸 = zhi(3) = paper
婚 = hun(1)= to marry
