There are 31 standard Chinese characters with a 'chang' pronunciation.  Major sound-indicating components are: 昌 (8 occurences),  长 (6 occurences), what is to the right of 土 in 场 (3 occurences)

长 = long

The two-character version is more commonly used:

常常 = chang(2)chang(2) = often

平常 = ping(2)chang(2) = usually

Sample sentence:

日常 = ri(4)chang(2) = common, everyday (e.g. in 'common usage')

日常用语 = ri(4)chang(2) yong(4)yu(3) = common wording

The term 用语 is so common that it is a single word.
