Looking for beauty at the right places 1
Version 1.0, September 2006
Conventional wisdom is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It is, but only to a certain extent. For there are indeed some
objective markers for beauty: symmetry, proportionality, and youthfulness.
Beauty is not the same as sexual preference. Some men prefer fat women,
and other men small bodies. And partner choice, obviously, does not
exclusively depend on beauty. Men also consider reliability, faithfulness,
intelligence (often to a lesser extent), and simply appropriateness.
Thus men in their 60s usually look for a partner no younger than the
early 30s, because they would consider a younger person inappropriate.
However, while men make partner choice decisions on a wide scale, they
would not necessarily claim that the partner they have chosen is the
most beautiful woman they know. The range of what men consider beautiful
is not as wide as the range of possible partners.
Beauty, in an objective sense, is unevenly distributed in Southeast
Asia. The second part of this article, which is accessible only for
“sexual opportunities” members, ranks Southeast Asian countries from 1 to 10
in accordance to the beauty of the women. It also elaborates on the
likelihood of landing a beauty in bed.
