Perched on the summit of a mountain 14 miles west of Jerash and 41 miles (66km) from Amman, in the hills of Ajloun, stands this 12th century Arab castle built in defence against the Crusaders. The castle is surrounded by a moat and is in quite a good state of repair. Its many rooms invite the inquisitive explorer.
