Following a 5,000-year-old route first mentioned in the Book of Genesis, this paved road winds through many of Jordan's ancient sites and monuments and eventually leads to Petra and Aqaba. The King's Highway passes through several of Jordan's landscapes: plunging canyons, open plains, thick forests, and the desert.
