Thirty kilometers
south of Amman on the King's Highway is the city of Madaba, which
has some of the finest mosaics of the ancient Orient, including
a 6th century map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land.
An irresistible
combination of history and art, Madaba was first mentioned in
the Bible as Medeba and is one of Jordan's main provincial cities
today.
