Indonesia / Travel Information / Customs

Customs allow on entry a maximum of one litre of alcoholic beverages, 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 100 grams of tobacco, and a reasonable amount of perfume per adult.

According to Law No 25 of 2003, anybody who carries money in the value of 100 million Rupiah or more when departing from Indonesia, either in Rupiah or foreign currencies, has to declare this with customs.

The photo below shows a large signboard in the departure area of the port of Sekupang on Batam Island, from where many ferries depart to Singapore. The signboard points out, in Indonesian and English, the necessity to declare amounts in a value of more than 100 million Rupiah.
