1. Renminbi
Chinese currency
is called RMB, issued by the People's Bank of China. The unit
of Renminbi is the yuan and the fractional currency are jiao and
fen and are of the decimal system (10 fen = 1 jiao; 10 jiao =
1 yuan). The abbreviation of RMB yuan is Y.
2.RMB travelers cheques
For the convenience
of tourists, the business department of the Bank of China headquarters
and domestic branches a Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangzhou
and branch in the Hong Kong Special administrative Region as well
as branches in London, Singapore and Luxembourg sell RMB travels
cheques.
Administration
of Bringing in and Taking Out Chinese Currency Bills
1. Stipulations
on the control of foreign exchange cash and bills brought in and
taken out of China.
There is no limit in amount for foreign currency and foreign exchange
bills that can be brought into China by tourists, but it must
be declared to the customs. The Bank of China and its exchange
centers can handle foreign exchange and issue a foreign exchange
certificate valid for six months.
2. Stipulation
on the control of RMB brought in and taken out China.
Unused RMB should be converted bank into foreign currency with
the personal valid "foreign exchange certificate" before leaving
China. When leaving, the customs will examine the permit for taking
out foreign currency, gold and silver issued by the Bank of China
(called the "taking out permit"). Unused foreign exchange and
RMB travelers cheques are permitted to be taken out.
