Bhutan / The Country and its People / Language


There are two main languages in Bhutan. Dzongkha (The language of the dzong or the fort) is the national language of Bhutan spoken widely and Nepali is spoken by the people of southern Bhutan who are of Nepalese origin.

In the central and eastern Bhutan, people speak their own dialects. English is commonly spoken in all towns and also it is the medium of instructions in schools throughout the Kingdom.
