Arabic is the official language, although English is widely understood and it's used by most businesses.

Another language spoken by some of the local inhabitants of Bahrain is a dialect of Persian which has been heavily influenced by Arabic. Hindi, Bengali , Urdu and Tagalog are widely spoken amongst the domestic workers, housemaids and construction workers.
